Offspring 1, 9: "most of my friends in my class want to be either singer or footballer to get loads of money!.."
How sad is that???....
Offspring 2, 6 years old, wanted to be doctor. Not to save people's lives, but because "doctors get a lot of money" - as well .... (where she got that from I have no idea..)
And they haven't reached secondary school yet.
What have we done to our children? What are we doing to our children? What kind of society are we building with such aspirations??
That's where it can be pretty hard and disheartening to be parents: despite all the values and principles you try to live by and pass on to your kids, they are still part of a group, a society, a group that for better or worse influence their thinking... And apart from living on an island, cut from the rest of the world, there's nothing that us parents, we can do about it...
